Seven Years

7 years already passed since the beer drinking competition between the language schools, where ISE almost won with me drinking several pints!
After the competition (feeling sufficiently merry - both of us) and with the help of a dear friend, Mr A took all his courage and asked if me I wanted to be his girlfriend. Well - you know the rest!
We celebrate this special day usually with our yearly visit to Sol y Mar - a very fantastic beach restaurant serving posh fish dishes and desserts out of this world (last year for example: Parmesan Ice Cream!)

While we were waiting for our starter to arrive, we were served "PIZZA TO DRINK AND BEER TO EAT"! Wow! And it was really like that: At the bottom of the glass there was beer jelly, then some pizza-spiced tomato drink and on top frothy mozzarella. That's quite an invention!

Starter: Their absolute signature plate are the "Gamberi alla Greca" (Greek Prawns). Prawns is creamy cheese sauce with tomatoes and olives served still sizzling in a huge pan... soooo good! We already discovered this plate at our first dinner at Sol y Mar and since then we kept ordering it every time we went there, even though normally we love to try out new things.

We decided to go for pasta this time, and to skip the second course, as last time we were feeling too stuffed eating the whole menu.
Unfortunately none of these two dishes did really satisfy me, though they were REALLY special.
Foie gras, green apple and plaice ravioli

Potato and cheese ravioli with mussels, lemon and breadcrumbs
Dessert: always a firework of taste at Sol y Mar!

Semi-candied pear in spiced wine with pepper ice cream

Liquorice brownie with choco-mint ice cream
Coffee crema catalana and liquorice liquor
We had a bottle of my newly discovered favorite wine: Gewuerztraminer. I never really liked white wine and always preferred red, but finally I found something I like to drink with fish!
